Halspan takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously.

Reflecting this long-term commitment, all our door blanks are made from sustainable, managed sources, are both PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certified, and comply with EU Timber Regulations.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC™) global certification scheme enables consumers to identify, purchase and use timber and forest products produced from well-managed forests.

All Halspan door blanks are FSC™ Chain of Custody certified.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC ™) is dedicated to both sustainable forest management and timber processing.

All Halspan door blanks comply with PEFC.

EU Timber Regulation

Internationally, a great deal of work is being done to improve forestry and harvesting practices. It’s recognised that good forest management can contribute to climate change mitigation, and provide environmental benefits as well as social, political and economic betterment.

In order to combat the international trade in illegal timber, the European Commission has created legislation to prevent illegal wood from being placed onto the market in the European Union. The regulation came into force in March 2013 and applies to timber and timber-based products that are produced both within the EU and imported into the Member States from outside the EU.

Halspan door blanks are produced in the EU from sustainable sources and have PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certification. Whilst certified timber isn’t exempt from EU Timber Regulation, these schemes provide a straightforward means of demonstrating compliance.

All Halspan door blanks comply with EU Timber Regulation.
