How can we help?
Why should I use Halspan® door blanks?+
Thanks to its engineered monolithic construction, Halspan® door blanks can be trimmed on all four edges to whatever door leaf size is required, without the need for any additional framing prior to lipping and facing with your chosen finish/veneer/laminate.
What are the screw holding properties of Halspan®?+
Halspan® door blanks consist of three layers. A layer of long grain wood chip provides excellent screw holding properties, while two deck layers of high density fine wood chips allow a choice of finishing options.
What finishes can I apply to Halspan® door blanks?+
Halspan® is especially good for laminating and veneering. Whether it’s being used as a fire door or not, veneer, clear lacquer, paint and plastic laminate can all be applied successfully. Together, its fine, hard surface and monolithic structure also eliminate problems like grin-through and ripple effect found with other types of board.

Functions of a door
Doors have to fulfill a variety of different functions. Think about it for a second… the humble door could be called upon to provide some or all of these benefits: security, sound reduction and a thermal barrier, as well as resistance to fire and smoke. Last but not least, they may also need to look good. Provided they’re specified, manufactured, installed and maintained correctly, there’s only one thing that can prevent a door assembly from fulfilling ALL of these functions – durability. Unless a door assembly is robust enough to withstand its daily use, it won’t keep you safe or comfortable; it won’t protect you from smoke, or noise and it won’t save your life in the event of a fire.
Halspan door assemblies, you’ll be relieved to hear, won’t let you down.
Acoustics in relation to doors
Door leaves respond to airborne sound. The air molecules vibrate and oscillate. When they hit the door leaf they cause it to vibrate. Door construction therefore plays a vital part in achieving good levels of sound reduction. Please download the Halspan Acoustic Brochure from the library page for full details.
