Q&A with Marc Evans, Business Development Manager at Halspan

Can you tell us a bit about your role as Business Development Manager? What does a typical day look like for you?


My role largely revolves around driving sales for Halspan. A typical day for me would involve engaging with architects, contractors and specifiers throughout the supply chain to identify potential partners. I make it a point to understand the needs of these stakeholders and promote our comprehensive range of fire door components, as well as Halspan® Verified and Halspan® Tracker.


Halspan is known for innovation. Could you share how Halspan stands out and what sets you apart from competitors?


We believe we lead the way in product development and testing within our field. Halspan is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of quality door components, all manufactured to the highest international standards. The components in our fire doors undergo rigorous full-system testing, evaluating every conceivable door configuration and mode to guarantee full compliance. These components can be seamlessly integrated into Halspan Verified Door Systems, which are digitally traceable through the Halspan Tracker. This ensures not only complete compliance, but also offers total peace of mind.


Building strong relationships with customers is key. Could you share a success story where the implementation of Halspan’s products or systems made a notable difference for a client or project?


I have worked closely with a contractor who has implemented the Halspan Tracker within a significant contract they hold with a council, which involves inspecting and maintaining several thousand fire doors.


The introduction of Halspan products went above and beyond the contractor’s initial requirements for digitally managing ongoing fire door compliance. They discovered that implementing the Halspan Tracker, integrated with the Halspan Verified system, brought about several additional capabilities. Integrating these two systems allowed the contractor to distinguish themselves from their competitors by providing new offerings to the market.


We are actively working together on future enhancements, and being a part of this journey has been incredibly fulfilling.


As someone deeply involved with Halspan’s development, what parts of your role do you find particularly rewarding and exciting?


I derive great satisfaction from many different aspects of my job. Being in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, alongside collaborating with a multitude of different people in the industry, is genuinely exciting for me. I take great enjoyment in regularly meeting with new and existing customers, an aspect of the job that is vital to strengthening business relationships. I make it a point to actively listen to their needs and work together to find solutions that bring long-term value to our business.


Halspan Tracker and Halspan Verified are newer offerings for Halspan. What benefits do these offer to customers?

Additionally, the Halspan Tracker simplifies the process of ensuring fire safety compliance for door sets, making it more accessible and precise than ever before.
